The threats facing bears worldwide are the same for most species facing extinction. Significant progress made in bear conservation will have a measurable impact on securing the future of many other species.

The Hauser Bears team believe in long term sustainable solutions for conservation. The threats facing bears worldwide are the same that endanger most species facing extinction, including habitat loss through de-forestation, poaching and hunting to supply the traditional Chinese medicine markets. This in addition to demand from the specialist food and pet markets and bear/human conflicts as our world encroaches more and more on wild areas.

It is our firm belief that any advances achieved in bear conservation, will have an impact on other species, and will ensure that future generations have the privilege of seeing these magnificent animals in the wild in the way that we are still able to. This privilege however is disappearing quickly, as six out of eight species of bear are currently on the critical list of species threatened with extinction, with some populations having died out already.

Transparency and efficiency are central to our work methods.

At Hauser Bears we are committed to the cause and determined that our donors are able to see exactly where their contribution is going. Our aim is to be transparent and efficient. Donors are welcome to indicate exactly which of our fundraising projects they wish to contribute to. We believe that research and education are the backbone of any long term changes in the way we view and treat our endangered species. Hence we are commissioning vital research into surprisingly little known areas as well as raising awareness about bear populations worldwide.

We offer support to specific, carefully vetted projects and recognise their hard work, inviting you to look at the link to their websites directly.

As time is running out, we are also sponsoring projects that protect existing pockets of populations in different parts of the world, by buying land to set up sanctuaries in known poaching areas to preserve the wild habitat for endangered species.

We also welcome applications for funds by well deserving organisations and projects, and vet these carefully. We talk extensively with our partners around the world, and encourage our supporters to get to know them through their websites and indeed donate directly to them should they wish to do so.

We believe in sustainability and continuity of support to our projects and partners, and therefore created a brand for which all profit goes to our bears.

Hauser Bears believes that charities in themselves should be sustainable. To that end we are launching our own product line, generating a base income to fund our projects. The trading subsidiary of Hauser Bears will have collections at the cutting edge of fashion with a 100% of the profit going to support the charity and its projects. We are working in close collaboration with exciting new talents, who are helping us create a fabulous brand.. More to come on this very soon.

We work within the framework offered by local cultures.

Hauser Bears is committed to working in collaboration with governments and governing bodies. We are convinced that effective change comes from working within existing boundaries, to make them work to our advantage, or indeed to expand them. We do not advocate confrontation but believe in the power of education and offering alternatives and solutions instead.
