Hauser Bears - Worldwide Bear Welfare - Header Image 1
"I wholeheartedly support the work that Hauser Bears is doing: the idea of these beautiful and entirely innocent animals being systematically abused turns the stomach and the heart; there is no room in today's world for these barbaric and useless practices. We shall be judged by the way we treat sentient beings; we could start right here by protecting bears from evil exploitation."

Joanna Lumley (Actress)

Joanna Lumley is one of those women that are truly just as beautiful on the inside as on the outside.

As an actress Joanna has taken on a string of iconic roles including Emma Peel in ‘The New Avengers’, a Bond girl in ‘Her Majesty’s Secret Service’, the incorrigible Patsy Stone in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’. Joanna has treaded the boards in theatrical productions including ‘Blithes Spirt’ and ‘The Cherry Orchard’.

Joanna has also become a staple on a number of documentaries including the epic ‘Joanna Lumley’s Nile’ in which she travelled the mighty river from sea to source, as well as being the voice of a documentary for ‘Survival International’ called ‘Mine: Story of a sacred mountain.’ The film tells the story of the remote Dongria Kondh tribe in India and their battle to stop a vast bauxite mine from destroying their land and way of life.

As well as her career high’s on stage and screen, Joanna Lumley is also a well respected and dedicated supporter of a number of charities. Most notably her work and activism with The Gurkhas has been well documented. Campaigning for the rights of Gurkha veterans who served in the British Army before 1997 the right to settle in Britain, she reached the highest echelons of the U.K government resulting an announcement that indeed Gurkha veterans who had served four years or more in the British Army before 1997 would be allowed to settle in Britain. She is now seen as ‘A daughter of Nepal’ by the Nepalese people. Joanna has also given her time to be Patron of both TREE AID and The Venture Trust Nepal.

This beautiful courageous woman has never been afraid of standing up for what she believes in and inspiring generations to do the same.

At Hauser Bears we are proud to count Joanna Lumley as one of supporters pf our work to protect the endangered species of bears.
